TAZEWELL, VA — The Upper Loudoun Juniors All Star Team exploded for six unanswered runs in the final three innings to surge past Lancaster County, 8–3, on Tuesday night in a thrilling come-from-behind victory.
Lancaster struck early, manufacturing runs with small ball. Tucker Braly put the visitors on the board in the first with a sacrifice fly, and Lane Reynolds added to the lead in the second with a perfectly placed bunt, giving Lancaster a 2–0 edge.
Upper Loudoun found their rhythm in the fourth. Back-to-back singles ignited the rally, and Charlie Awenowicz came through with a game-tying RBI single to knot things up at two apiece.
A balk in the bottom half of the inning briefly gave Lancaster County a 3–2 lead, but the Upper Loudoun offense responded in a big way.
In the top of the fifth, Weston Hamilton and Connor Storke delivered clutch RBI singles, as the Juniors plated three to take their first lead of the night, 5–3. From there, they never looked back.
Ben Thompson was steady on the mound for Upper Loudoun, going five innings and allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out five. Kiptyn Carley came in to close the door and earn the save.
The Upper Loudoun bats came alive in a big way, racking up 16 hits on the night. Declan MacMillin, hitting out of the nine-spot, sparked the offense with a 2-for-3 night and two RBIs. Carley, Thompson, Chase York, Jack Serotkin, and MacMillin all recorded multi-hit performances in a balanced attack.
Lancaster's Brady Erskine led his team with a 2-for-3 effort, while Braly and Reynolds each drove in a run. Despite turning a double play on defense, Lancaster couldn’t slow down the red-hot Loudoun offense late in the game.
With the win, Upper Loudoun advances with momentum, proving they can battle through early adversity and finish strong when it matters most.
