Purcellville, VA., July 19, 2023  – Upper Loudoun Little League Junior Baseball Team are state champions and advance to the Southeast Region Tournament later this month.  The team beat out 14 other teams in the state tournament which was hosted by Upper Loudoun Little League and Virginia District 16 at Franklin Park and Fireman’s Field in Purcellville, Virginia. 

 

During the 5-day tournament Upper Loudoun went undefeated, outscoring their opponents by a score of 71-9 even shutting out one of their opponents with a score of 15-0.  At the plate, Upper Loudoun’s bats drove in 71 runs in 5 games and the pitchers maintained an earned run average of just 1.32. 

 

“I am proud of the players on this team. They worked hard during the regular season and throughout this tournament and deserve to be state champions,” said  ULLL Manager, Jim Kennedy.  “We are thrilled to advance to the Southeast Region Tournament and will be busy over the next week preparing for the next round of competition.”

 

“This team played incredible baseball throughout the entire tournament.  They played smart, hard and had fun while doing it,” said Brandon Bonnette, President of Upper Loudoun Little League. “As the host league for the Junior Baseball State Tournament, this win is extra special.  We are proud of the Junior Baseball all-star team and are excited to cheer them on in the regional tournament.”

 

The Southeast Region Tournament will be held in Bridgewater, Virginia from July 28-August 1. The tournament will include teams from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.   Upper Loudoun’s first game is on July 28th at 12pm, ET against South Carolina.  The winner of the Southeast Region Tournament moves on to the Junior League Baseball World Series on August 13-20 in Taylor, Michigan.
